Dismantling the Creative Xmod.
I have successfully dismantled my Creative Xmod X-Fi.
Here are the results :
Before opening the Xmod:
Turn it over and you will see those friction rubber stand:
Peel them off to reveal the screws:
Remove the Top 2 covers by a little force and removing the attachment.
Then remove the 4 screws at the bottom to open(with a little force) the back.
Remove the middle screw attached to the Mother board and separate all things.
You can remove the knob just by pulling it with a bit of force.
Here is it all laid out with everything you will need.
The Xmod's Circuit board itself (Motherboard ):
A Close look:
A closer Look At The Chip (not the original X-Fi Chip.. but a less enhanced Version of it)
The Main chip DSP (Digital Signal Processor) here is :
Texas Instruments TMS320 DA255ZHH 4A-69AE67W GI
"DA255
DA255 is the TMS320 dervivative used in the Creative Zen Touch and possibly other Creative / Dell DJ devices. The exact specifics of this variant (which is presumably a custom variant for Creative) are not fully known, but it is known that these are ARM processors with a C55x core. The entire tag on one chip reads "TMS320 DA255GHH 4A-4AAFDEW". Unfortunately, Texas Instruments only gives the documentation out after signing a TI NDA. "
