My Starbucks Coffee TreatS and How I intend to do good about it.

IMG_0075

If you’re a bit like me, you intend to be a good citizen of this planet. Hence, doing things good for people and resources.

I’ve noticed how coffee addict this world is today. My Opinion: Meh, Its okay..  Does the job in staying up for lectures and sometimes maybe just to act mature ? :P

So it’s quite evident that I’m not reallllly a coffee person, and more a Mocha person really. I love anything to do with chocolates. Anything like that is good. However, I don’t mind an occasional chill out time with coffee. So my opinion on that is neutral and positive. But I wouldn’t go to say a coffee place every now and then for some coffee. Rather maybe some Darjeeling Tea at home would be good :)

Anyhoo, I did this test/sign up thingi at Microsoft and yay! I won! they sent me a Starbucks pre paid top up card with 10 pounds in it! Wohoo!

So had a nice time with it and every since I’m a Starbucks customer, I’ve been sent lovely happy offers by Starbucks. Nothing that really struck me. But here comes one day in my mail, a Starbucks offer. Everyday I get to have a Brewed Coffee of Café Estima Blend for Free on them!!!! How awesome is that.

Reasons I like that :

1. Its FREE Coffee from Starbucks EVERYDAY !

2. I can take how much Café Estima Coffee I want!

3. It’s a fair trade coffee. (Very important)

Prior to my Starbucks offers, I really didn’t like them. Mainly because of their inability to be Fair Trade. Certain statistics made a good point in that. I am that kind of a person, and these things do matter.

So how do I intend to do good out of this?

Well Its starbucks fairtrade coffee I’m getting. Over that I’m not paying a penny to them Hence they get to give out more money to coffee farmers.

:)

Convergence made us stuck to the 2GHz processing level for 8 years

I remember when I got my Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz way back in 2002. It was a Dell PC, and I loved it. 7 years later, I own a laptop with 4 times the ram, 10 times the graphics but at a 2GHz processing  speed. Convergence made us shift to Laptops. Now Laptops out number PC’s. Convergence made netbooks. Its what you do what matters now and not what you can do. Netbooks today don’t go beyond the 2GHz mark and neither do any laptops. Intel might have recently shipped their i7, but we never needed anything more. It’s about doing multiple things at the same time with respect to your interest. having 2 laptops was a dream 8 years back and now you can own a top end PC and a netbook. Yet you would spend most of your time on that netbook. This shift, this convergence made the web grow beyond. Gave us a thin client like idea of work. Synchronising everything we love, everything we do. The Web grew with our needs with Web 2.0 . It became what we call cloud computing. Although the RAM on each PC increased tremendously, the processing power did not as it did in the beginning. The world is not at all ready for a thin client environment but it’s becoming a mixture of everything. Both PC and Web work together. Are you ready to use just about any other PC?  Does PC, Personal Computer be any more Personal anymore? People love their stuff. People love their hardware. Infact many companies are more inclined towards the user experience (Software) and looks (fashion and outer beauty)  of things. That is bringing a more meaning to PC. So are we going towards a thin client network ? Nops. I think that was excatly what Microsoft had in mind to start off with their lending pc’s patent. Maybe.

Driving me Cravy : A University student Tech. enthusiastic opens up

This was during my conversation with my bro's friend Bhavi and felt like just posting it here :

Varuna:
welll Yeah that stupid feeling.. its like this man.. I see something.. hey thats wonderful for that price.. then i see this other thing.. then i think Oh its just a few quid more and i get that much.. but then in the end it builds up.. and its a lot of money
:P
So right now im trapped like this:
I need a basic good mp3 player.. I see the Zen Mozaic.. 8GB (its a V plus replacement) .. looks nice.. Price ? 60 pounds.. pretty awesome for the price.. Then Hey look there is that Zen.. 8 GB with lots more about 69 pounds.. Not bad.. Then hey look there is the 16GB Version of the ZEN for 99 quid and if im rich.. 32 GB for 149 pounds.. sweeet deal man .. tHen hey Why would I go for the Zen when there is the better X-Fi.. okay so how much is the 8GB ? 79.. hmm but I rather have the Wifi Capabilities.. Okay so 16GB is 121 pounds.. just 20 pounds more than the Zen 16GB .. with all that features.. totally awesome Deal.. Now Hey.. WiFi.. Hmm.. What About the iPod Touch ? 8GB of God-ness for 150 quid.. a bit less storage but like JUSt 20 pounds more than the X-Fi with a lot more capability. . Okay cool.. (at this time im thinking its a bit too much) .. So I see the Samsung P2 .. Oh cool 8 gb for 121 pounds.. wait the Touch rules the P2 for just 20 quid more.. Hmmmmmm.. Okay cool.. lets see.. I'm right now from 60 pounds to 150 pounds.. grr !

bhavishya.kanjhan:
hahah
that's exactly what happens

Varuna:
I KNow !
It sucks. and then I look at my board and it says : "Pay Rent and Bill.. all worth a LOT of money ".. then Im all shattered .. and I go back looking at the Zen Mozaic.. at 60 quid. . in the middle I try to fix the Zen Vision M i have (awesome one).. and Its being very Gay .. so chuck it .. loose a few screws while trying to open it up .. increases frustration.. found the screws.. ended up paying twice for an ebay item.. and now the zen vision m is all set together and I'm checking my bank balance and I'm like Oh boy this SUCKS ! .. and wait.. I've got coursework to do to hand in next week ! :D
so its pretty crap you know

bhavishya.kanjhan:
all part of being a techy geeky uni student
bills to pay
but still tech stuff to buy

Varuna: I know man.. it sucks ..

Varuna: I think I'll just blog what I wrote :D

Windows Live Folder Share is now Windows Live Sync with a bit improoved features.

sync.live.com gives:

Error

Access to this server is forbidden from your client

Windows Live FolderShare (previous FolderShare was owned by someone else and then Microsoft bought it) is now going to by Window Live Sync.

Download link ( same features as FolderShare.. but new program..) : [Link]
it wont work as youre gonna get the above error message.

The main featured difference I found between Live Sync(beta) and Live FolderShare(beta) is that in Live Sync you have the ability to remote desktop. .

(Allow remote access to this computer)

That's a big deal ..

No, really! Imagine this:

When i wanted to access a particular file over a device (pc, smartphone), what FolderShare did was it was behind NAT; didnt have a direct connection to the devices I connected FolderShare to; and everytime I download say cow.mp3, it will upload cow.mp3 to a server and i would download it from that server. This creates a Huge time delay and Highly depends on your upload/download speeds which in my case was Not high end.
Therefore, if youre in a home/LAN-ed network its great for fast easy secure transfers .. in office and work! (ie, it creates a direct connection to your device- smartphone or pc)

Why am I emphasising on smartphone?
Well for one thing I've adored FolderShare is that it's browser based navigaton and the client silently sits on the host computer. Hence I can even access downloads on my phone via the net !

Say you have a Zen X-Fi with WLAN ability, which supports Wireless Streaming of your music from PC to the Zen.. thats a really cool idea but the Zen X-Fi supports and works as a UNPN Device and hence onl UNPN supported devices can interact with each other on a network and share files (here: Media).

So the possibilites of FolderShare were great, and might as well be a bit better with Live Sync!

Whats next ?

I want Live Mesh and FolderShare to be Merged !!
