Windows Live Folder Share is now Windows Live Sync with a bit improoved features.

sync.live.com gives:

Error

Access to this server is forbidden from your client

Windows Live FolderShare (previous FolderShare was owned by someone else and then Microsoft bought it) is now going to by Window Live Sync.

Download link ( same features as FolderShare.. but new program..) : [Link]
it wont work as youre gonna get the above error message.

The main featured difference I found between Live Sync(beta) and Live FolderShare(beta) is that in Live Sync you have the ability to remote desktop. .

(Allow remote access to this computer)

That's a big deal ..

No, really! Imagine this:

When i wanted to access a particular file over a device (pc, smartphone), what FolderShare did was it was behind NAT; didnt have a direct connection to the devices I connected FolderShare to; and everytime I download say cow.mp3, it will upload cow.mp3 to a server and i would download it from that server. This creates a Huge time delay and Highly depends on your upload/download speeds which in my case was Not high end.
Therefore, if youre in a home/LAN-ed network its great for fast easy secure transfers .. in office and work! (ie, it creates a direct connection to your device- smartphone or pc)

Why am I emphasising on smartphone?
Well for one thing I've adored FolderShare is that it's browser based navigaton and the client silently sits on the host computer. Hence I can even access downloads on my phone via the net !

Say you have a Zen X-Fi with WLAN ability, which supports Wireless Streaming of your music from PC to the Zen.. thats a really cool idea but the Zen X-Fi supports and works as a UNPN Device and hence onl UNPN supported devices can interact with each other on a network and share files (here: Media).

So the possibilites of FolderShare were great, and might as well be a bit better with Live Sync!

Whats next ?

I want Live Mesh and FolderShare to be Merged !!
